Why the cabbage soup cleanse?
It's a great way to clean out your system from toxins of daily living while still holding nutritional value and sustenance. I vary my recipes depending on how I feel but the essential components are the spices. The spicier the better. Spices such as peppers, paprika, chili powders are known to heat up your metabolism allowing you to burn more calories throughout the day.
I do so love my carbs. Nothing like a good sandwich to really satisfy those cravings. What's a girl to do? Gluten free is key.
Below is an egg white, turkey bacon sandwich on gluten free bread.
This week's recipe: Cabbage Soup Cleanse
Low Sodium V8 Vegetable Juice as broth. Pour it into pot, then add half that amount in water to cut down on thickness
Lots of red pepper flakes
Lots of chili powder
Dash of paprika
Generous amount of Garlic powder (Garlic is great fr digestive and immune health)
Whole Medium sized head of cabbage
Collard Greens
Onions
Extra large container of mushrooms
Cook until the cabbage is tender, then simmer on low to let the spices really cook in. I like to have the soup on from start to finish for about 2hrs.

There are many variations to the Hot Toddy but the one that offers the cleanest option to compliment a cleanse is The Hot Toddy - Nashville style
Hot water
Lemon
Shot of Whiskey of your choice (I'm a Jack girl myself)
Dash of paprika (If you are feeling spicy and want to make sure that metabolism continues to work, add a dash of this spice) Definitely not for the faint hearted.
What to Eat instead of pasta? Ground turkey meat, spinach, and stewed tomatoes. Season to taste.
